Leather & Suede Garments

Shores Fine Dry Cleaning understands that our customers expect the best. Leather and suede cleaning requires a specialist.

That’s why Shores has chosen the experts at Arrow Fabricare to clean your leather garments and handbags. Arrow Fabricare is one of the top specialty garment processors in the US. Therefore, you may rest assured that your leather and suede items are being safely handled and as always Shores stands behind their work.

Leather and Suede Dry Cleaning

  • Garments are carefully inspected
  • Careful removal of spots and stains
  • Replacement of natural oils lost over time or in the cleaning process
  • Restoration of color and texture that can be lost in wear or as a natural consequence of the cleaning process.
  • Loose buttons are tightened and minor repairs are performed
  • Alterations and restyling services are available
  • Most garments require 1-2 weeks (3-4 weeks in the summer)

Arrow Fabricare does not use harsh chemicals to treat stains in leather and suede because the dyes used in animal skins are very delicate. The use of harsh chemicals or stain removal by anyone other than an experienced specialist could lead to discoloration and/or damage to the skin. Even with expert stain removers, complete stain removal cannot be guaranteed.

Cleaning leather and suede may cause slight changes in texture and/or color of your skins. Natural skins, unlike man made fabrics are unique by design. It is impossible to predict exactly how an animal skin will react to the cleaning process. You may be assured of quality results by knowing that Arrow Fabricare has spent many years refining their technique; specializing in cleaning leather, suede, and handbags; and are the absolute best in cleaning natural skins.

Spills on leather and suede require different care than cotton and wool. While it’s best to blot most stains and to never rub you do have a few options.

If your leather is a bit shiny and automatically repels liquid spills, then you can use a damp sponge to gently wipe it off. However, if your leather is butter soft and seems to absorb every little stain, you should not attempt stain removal. It will most likely require professional care, as soon as possible.

Suede is a bit trickier. Some smudges can often be improved with a clean pencil eraser (but should always be tested in a hidden area). Oily-type stains from buttered popcorn, gravy, and lotions will need attention by the technicians at Shores and Arrow.

Sheepskin Boots Cleaning Services

We also specialize in Ugg Boot cleaning. Because sheepskin has a delicate surface, Ugg footwear is individually hand cleaned using approved suede detergents and conditioners. Like any fine garment, sheepskin is delicate and not all stains can be prevented or removed. Once cleaned and conditioned, the footwear is stuffed to retain its shape through the drying process. Boots are allowed to dry naturally in a climate controlled environment. Sometimes UGG’s will shrink slightly after cleaning. This is normal and you can expect them to stretch back out when you wear them. Once dry, our specialists work to revive the luster and stain repellency of your twinface sheepskin boots. Finally, your UGG’s are deodorized, stuffed with tissue paper, brushed with a specialty suede brush to groom the nap and made ready for you to pick up. Quality cleaning cannot be rushed, so please allow 3 weeks for us to complete the cleaning of your footwear.
